Environmental purpose of the Top50 Corporate Sustainability Award 2022
The Top50 Corporate Sustainability Award 2022 [TOP50 CSA 2022] has been announced by Nhip Cau Dau Tu Magazine for all 3 business sectors: FDI enterprises, listed enterprises and unlisted enterprises. This is a program with many profound humanistic meanings, in order to honor companies that have contributed to sustainable development, environmental friendliness and social justice in Vietnam.
VAS Group has been voted for TOP50 CSA 2022 by the Council to consider important factors related to the commitment to sustainable development of the Government of Vietnam made at COP26 [The United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties 26th].
Accordingly, this year's TOP50 CSA 2022 sustainable businesses are evaluated based on the following indicators
- Sales/production index
- Sustainable development strategy
- Corporate governance
- Environmental protection
The program received data and advice from the Appraisal Council including representatives of HSBC, Deloitte Vietnam, FTI, Talentnet, Research Institute for Circular Economy and leading economic and business experts from Harvard Business University to ensure objectivity and science in assessment.
Reviewing the outstanding achievements of VAS in the sustainable development strategy
During nearly 25 years of establishment and development, VAS has strongly promoted "The Mind of Steel" motto, creating a solid foundation for many achievements in the manufacturing field. Invested in the world's No. 1st technology line from Danieli [one of the world's leading Italian industrial groups in the field of iron and steel production], each member factory of VAS is an important link in its eco-system, provides hi-quality products and services, thereby creates the strength for sustainable development, contributes to strengthen VAS's leading position in the domestic and foreign market. Total annual capacity of VAS Group reaches:
- 4,350,000 tons of square billet
- 2,500,000 tons of construction steel
From the early days of establishment, VAS was soon aware of the corporate social responsibility, especially in the development of production in parallel with environmental protection. The Group has actively developed a sustainable business development strategy, focused on developing an environment - friendly "Green, Clean" heavy industry. VAS Group has applied induction furnace technology in the steel production process, minimizing destruction to the living environment and natural resources, preserving precious living capital for future generations. VAS Group is proud to be the enterprise deploying this technology on the largest scale in Vietnam.
"The Mind of Steel" motto is also clearly expressed through the sustainable development orientation. The Group focuses on creating an upright and creative working environment with many stable welfare policies, improving the quality of training and development, creating promotion opportunities for employees, providing employees materially and spiritually prosperous life.
In addition, VAS is also a core enterprise in social activities in health and education such as:
- Donated VND 6 Billion in cash and in kind, worth more than VND 5 Billion for the prevention of Covid-19 epidemic in Thanh Hoa Province, including 3 ambulances for Quan Hoa, Quan Son and Muong Lat Districts.
- Donating 20,000 oxygen cylinders to the program "Giving oxygen, extending life" in Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho responded to the urgent needs in the prevention of Covid epidemic.
- “VAS Scholarship Fund – Vietnam Advance Spirit” has sponsored VND 3.5 Billion to donate 170 laptops, tuition fees and living expenses to students from schools and universities across the country.
Thereby, VAS Group affirms towards the goal of sustainable development, harmonizing benefits and responsibilities with customers and partners; as well as between the Group and the social community.
