Exports of iron and steel have increased dramatically

According to the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA), our nation exported 8,54 million tons of iron and steel of all types with nearly 7,1 billion USD from the beginning of the year to the end of August, rise 43.4% in quantity and 127 percent in value over the same time last year.

Iron and steel exports of all sorts increased by 33.8% in quantity and 35.2% in value in August compared to the previous month, reaching 1,53 million tons with a value of almost 1,5 billion USD.

Steel production in all forms increased by 29,2 percent in the first eight months of this year, to more than 20,6 million tons, compared to the same time in 2020. Hot wire rod consumption reached 4,85 million tons, an increase of 2,1 times over the same period last year; metal-plated and color-coated corrugated iron consumption reached more than 3,4 million tons, an increase of 36.6% over the same period in 2020.

As a result, the export value of iron and steel goods is 2,5 times greater than in the same period last year. This is the month with the greatest total value of iron and steel exports ever, and the second month in a row with a value above 1 billion USD.

It is known that our country's Steel production in all forms, mostly to ASEAN markets, totaled 2,7 million tons, about equal to the same period last year; exports to China markets totaled 1,8 million tons, a decrease of 13,2 percent.

This group of items' exports to the EU and US markets rose considerably. Exports to the EU increased by 7,5 times to 1,43 million tons, and exports to the US increased by 4 times to 540.000 tons, compared to the same period previous year.
