The birth of the Nghi Son International Port completes the VAS Group ecosystem, helps to optimize supply chain costs, plays a vital role in exporting VAS steel to the world, and contributes to the development of the Nghi Son Economic Zone, a major economic area in the North-Central region.
Major Milestones of the Nghi Son International Port [NSIP]
With a direction towards sustainable development, in April 2017, the founding of the Nghi Son Comprehensive International Port Ltd [currently the Nghi Son International Port Ltd] marked the completion of the VAS Group ecosystem.
According to its planning, the entire port system covers an area of 75ha and comprises of 9 piers. Thus far, NSIP has entered operation with construction finished in over 33ha and 6 working piers with a combined length of 1,497m and outstanding reception and service provision capacities:
- Breakbulk vessels with tonnage up to 70,000 DWT
- Container vessels with tonnage up to 30,000 DWT
- Liquid shipping vessels with up to 70,000 DWT
The Nghi Son International Port’s offload and circulation capacity:
- Over 15,000,000 tons per year for bulk cargo
- Over 100,000 TEU per year for container cargo

On 4th October 2017, NSIP welcomed its first ship and thus opened a new chapter in the transport operations of the Group and the local economic zone. Within merely a year of its operation, the aggregate exploitation productivity of the Port had reached 1 million tons.
In 2019, NSIP achieved a new milestone when a new container shipment route was opened to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region [China] and the Port welcomed its first international container ship at the Nghi Son – Thanh Hoa port. Aggregate exploitation productivity of the port witnessed steady growth, from 5 million [2019] to 10 million tons [2020], and then to 15 million tons in 2021.
Export activities from NSIP has been continuously developing and expanding despite the global impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021. Shipments of commercial steel worth millions of dollars have departed for Japan and Guatemala, marking a significant milestone for Vas Group in its quest for global conquest.

with a combined length of 1,497m and outstanding capacity.
In addition to affirming its advantages in deep sea ports and favorable location, the Nghi Son International Port also attracted logistic businesses with modern services and infrastructure and favorable environment for the import and export of goods. Currently, NSIP offers 6 main services, including:
- Container loading/unloading capacity up to 25 piece/crane/hour.
- Breakbulk loading/unloading with average capacity of 5,000-10,000 tons/crane/day-night for separate goods; 2,500 tons/crane/day-night for packaged, sling goods; and 2,000m³ to 5,000m³/crane/day-night for equipment.
- Storage rental with 33ha outdoor storage and 15,000m² indoor storage equipped with automatic fire protection and modern cranes.
- Container packaging for different types of goods by request of owners.
- Examine, fix container according to international regulations on container standards.
- Ship towage: supports towage of ships with payload up to 70,000 DWT.

The Nghi Son International Port plays a vital role
in ensuring VAS Group’s delivery timetable.
NSIP has jointed with VAS Nghi Son Steel [NSS], VAS An Hung Tuong Steel [AHT], VAS Tue Minh Steel [TMS], Da Nang Steel [DNS], and Viet My Steel [VMS] to form the enclosed VAS ecosystem and closely link production with supply. Thereby reinforces the sustainable business strategy and help the VAS Group to deeply integrate with the regional value chain and reaffirm its position in Vietnam and the international arena.
The founding of NSIP enhanced the VAS Group’s logistic competitive advantage and helped the Group to become proactive in terms of delivery timetable and optimizing costs. Timely delivery and reasonable costs are especially important when the VAS Group expands production and accesses various new markets with increasing demands in delivery.
Currently, international-grade steel products from VAS are present in over 10 countries, spanning 3 continents, notably in regions with strict demands on product quality, delivery time, and producer reputation such as Japan and Guatemala | Central America.
