Committed to the Green Steel strategy, VAS Group is in partnership with the nation to develop a sustainable green economy

Being a pioneer in implementing the Green Steel strategy, VAS Group is proud to be recognized for its contributions to building and developing the national green economy. This marks the second consecutive year the Group has received environmental awards for its efforts in "greening" Vietnam's steel industry.

The awards "Brand for the National Green Environment," "Environmentally Friendly Product," and "Green Friendly Factory" honor businesses that implement a green economy and contribute to creating a sustainable "Green, Clean" future for the community.

From the very beginning, VAS has chosen a circular economy model and remained steadfast on the path of producing environmentally friendly VAS Green Steel. Over more than 25 years of "Reborn to Create", VAS Group has continuously invested, innovated, and constantly pursued this goal.

Leading the effort in emission reduction, "greening" the entire VAS Green Steel production process

“Reborn” from scrap iron and steel sourced from across the country, the VAS Green Steel not only meets international standards but also brings dual value to the economy, society, and living environment by adding onto the value of national export goods, reducing waste, and helping to conserve natural resources and the environment.

Understanding that creating sustainable development values must stem from the "heart," nearly 5,000 VAS employees continuously strive and adapt to build a "Green, Clean" production environment that is safe and efficient, creating a "park factory" with 23% of its premises covered in green.

VAS Group proactively applies an induction furnace system that does not use Diesel Oil, coal, etc., reducing CO2 emissions by 40%. With energy-saving policies and enhanced production management optimization, the energy consumption of IF furnaces have decreased by 40% compared to 2023. The VAS Green Steel smelting process is also continuously improved, reducing energy consumption by 10%, and maintaining national energy security.

Wastewater at the VAS factory is treated using world-class Italian technology, this treated water is then reused for watering plants and roads to reduce dust and heat. 100% of the slag generated during the smelting process is collected and reprocessed into filling material for VAS Group's projects.

Notably, before being put into production, scrap materials are processed at the Nghi Sơn Port Logistics Area, part of the VAS Group ecosystem. This is the only modern waste material washing area in Vietnam dedicated to the cleaning and classifying of recycled steel materials, marking the clean starting point of the VAS Green Steel production process.

Committed to implementing breakthrough sustainable technological and technical solutions, VAS steadily secured its position as a "Top 10 Brand for the National Green Environment." In 2024, VAS Group transparently announced its evaluation of the environmental impact of its production activities throughout the product's entire lifecycle. It has been recognized as one of the two steel plants in Vietnam to achieve EPD [Environmental Product Declaration] certification, with CO2 emissions below 750 kg/ton [the lowest level currently announced], establishing its status as a leading Green Steel manufacturer in Vietnam.

VAS Group's products have been certified with the international EPD standard, currently achieving low CO2 emissions

The achievements of a team with "The Mind of Steel" passion, and relentless creativity, along with the aspiration to "Vietnam Advance Spirit," have resulted in millions of tons of VAS Green Steel meeting strict international standards: Japan [JIS], United Kingdom [BS4449], United States [ASTM, SAE, J403], Australia [ACRS]. To date, the VAS brand has conquered more than 15 export markets: The United States, Japan, South Korea, Cambodia, Singapore, China, Australia, Guatemala [Central America], and others.

VAS Green Steel continuously contributes to the "greening" journey of major national projects such as the North-South Expressway, Hai Phong City Political – Administrative Center, Long Thành International Airport [Dong Nai], Tan Son Nhat Airport Terminal 3 [Ho Chi Minh City], and others, building a sustainable "Green, Clean" future.

Repeatedly being recognized with titles for green economic development once again affirms VAS Group's "Heart" and "Vision" in environmental protection and sustainable development. It is the strong foundation of VAS Green Steel that continues to enhance the VAS brand's credibility domestically and expand its reach globally.
